touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with three minutes to play, on 24
carries as the Saskatchewan Roughriders edged the Toronto Argonauts, 28-22,
to stay perfect on the season.
Roughriders' (5-0) quarterback Darian Durant left the game after the first
quarter after taking a helmet to his ribs; he was 3-of-5 for 29 yards before
departing. Steven Jyles replaced him behind center and finished 14-of-18 for
201 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Andrew Fantuz caught four passes
for 71 yards and a score before leaving with an ankle injury.
Kerry Joseph threw for 259 yards and a touchdown on 21-of-42 passing and ran
nine times netting 39 yards and found the end zone for the Argonauts (2-3).
Arland Bruce III caught 10 balls, totaling 128 yards and a score, while Mike
Vanderjagt went 2-for-2 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra points.
Saskatchewan got the ball back at their own 19-yard line with just under nine
minutes left in the game. The club drove down the field but was dealt a blow
as Fantuz caught a 19-yard pass with 5:39 left to move the ball to Toronto's

his ankle and had to be carted off the field.
After getting the ball to the goal line, Cates ran it in to the end zone for
a 27-22 lead with three minutes to go.
Toronto was then stopped on a three-and-out and the 'Riders got the ball back
with 2:16 left in regulation.
Saskatchewan was given a scare as Michael Palmer appeared to fumble, however,
the referees ruled he was down and it was 3rd-and-1 with 1:33 to go. The
'Riders punted, it went into the end zone for a single and Toronto had
possession with 1:04 on their own 35-yard line.
The Argonauts found themselves at 3rd-and-10 with 18 ticks left but Joseph
overthrew James Robinson, turning the ball over on downs and all but sealing
the deal.
Toronto was up 4-0 after the first quarter. Vanderjagt connected on a 38-yard
field goal with about four minutes left in the stanza after hitting a single
just over two minutes in.
Joseph ran in a 13-yard score with 12:40 showing on the clock to balloon
Toronto's lead up to 11-0.
The Roughriders made it a four-point game as Jyles connected with Fantuz on
a 31-yard scoring strike with just over 10 minutes to play in the half.
Joseph found a wide open Bruce in the end zone, though Luca Congi connected on
a 46-yard field goal with under two minutes to play, and Toronto headed into
the break leading 18-10.
After stopping Saskatchewan on a three-and-out, Dominique Dorsey fumbled a
punt and James Patrick picked it up to give the 'Riders possession at
Toronto's 26-yard-line.
With 11:19 on the clock, Cates ran in a one-yard touchdown to make it a one-
point game, 18-17.
A Vanderjagt single, answered by a 32-yard field goal from Congi, sent the
game into the fourth quarter with the 'Riders leading 20-19.
