Greene sent to storage; shortstop fractures bone in left hand

San Diego, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - San Diego shortstop Khalil Greene reportedly
punched a storage chest outside the home dugout during Wednesday's 7-3 loss to
Arizona, resulting in a fracture of the fifth metacarpal bone on his left
hand.
The injury could sideline Greene for the remainder of the season. He
reportedly suffered the injury after his 100th strikeout of the season.
Padres general manager Kevin Towers said Greene would be placed on the
disabled list and he could miss six to eight weeks. The shortstop was expected
to undergo an MRI exam on Thursday.
Greene has had a season to forget, batting just .213 with 10 homers and 35
runs batted in over 105 games. He hit 27 home runs and knocked in 97 runs last
season.
